Joel Campbell continued his impressive run of starts vs Toulouse as he was given the striker berth alongside Emeghara.

This wasn’t Campbell’s most stirring display but he was still involved in several key moments and should’ve had an assist when he set up Kévin Monnet-Paquet well. He can also consider himself unlucky for not being rewarded with a penalty kick as he burst into the penalty area and was shoved to the ground by Abdennour.

The Costa Rican’s shown an impressive ability to pick out a pass or get himself into a scoring position but still has a lot to work on. His passing accuracy is something that has often came into criticism since his time at Lorient and it’s understandable why when the statistics are studied.

Campbell has the second lowest passing accuracy in the entire squad (69%) and this emphasises a lack of concentration more than anything else. This is highlighted by his high dispossessed and turnover numbers. Joel is the third most dispossessed player on the Lorient side with 2.1 times per game. More alarmingly, he has the highest amount of turnovers per game which proves the aforementioned concentration issues are certainly proving troubling for the youngster.

Campbell’s unimpressive display saw him replaced by former gunner Sunu on the 72nd minute mark.

you say he has a high amount of turnovers, but in the video alot of the times that he loses possession is due to shocking passes to him or him trying to keep the ball alive.

Still good job good read and a good video

That is true also. Statistics obviously only tell part of the story, they don’t consider exactly how the pass comes to the player. I do stand by the fact that he appears to struggle with the basics at times, though.

I seriously hope they tell him about his problems and he works on it.. Concentration is very important and it looks like everything is good apart from that final ball or the passes…It can be improved in a very short time but if not improved,it can be bad….
